TB Travelers, Forget Air Travel - Try Video Teleconferencing Instead

The first thought that came to my mind after reading the news about Andrew Speaker going on a 12 day world travel trip to get married, infected with a dangerous form of tuberculosis, was "Video Teleconferencing".

I mean, come on, with all the technology available these days do ya think he could have figured out that he that he could use it and NOT put his family and all the travelers at risk.  So, just in case any other grooms or brides become infected with a contagious disease, here is a great example of a couple getting married using Teleconferencing and some hotels that can be used:

  • Just last week (May 29) the Washington Post reported that Spc. Abraham Rhode and Amanda Hart used video teleconferencing to be joined as husband and wife.
  • Hotels from Syracuse to London have audio/video technology available. Guests can have a nice meal while watching the video romance taking place.

Just make sure the the officiator is either with the bride or groom. The State of Connecticut on May 24, 2007 issued a press release with details of the lawmakers attempt to close the loopholes in video conferencing weddings. I assume that the officiator of the Andrew Speaker wedding would have chosen to be with the bride.
