Top Ten Beauty Items that work as Logically as a Computer Program

Hairdryer There are many times that I wish beauty maintenance was as logical as a computer program. It is those times that I also know that I spend way too much time on the computer......

When I program HTML, if I use the right code then the program works. If it does not work, there is usually a  coding error that needs to be fixed. It is simple and logical. Once it is fixed, then the program works.  Everytime I attempted to style my hair, using the same process, the result was different. Too many factors changed the course of hair styling. Was the weather humid or dry, washed two days in a row or unwashed to let the natural oils come into play, close to the last hair cut or outgrown, a quiet shower without interruptions or two 4 1/2 year old twins playing with my make-up while you style your hair?

So I have my own list of beauty maintenance items that I found work as close to logical as it gets. I can count on them working as I planned, even when I have my little rascals running around while I am using them. I used these to help prep for the Theatreworks Gala. For someone who spends all of their time in sweats, logical beauty maintenance items are a must have!

10. MAC or Bare Essentuals Make-up. Goes on easy, stays on for long periods of time.

9. La Belle beauty products. I have skin allergies and these oils and cleansers work without any side effects.

8. Kerastase Bain Satin Shampoo and conditioner. Smells nice and makes my hair look good.

7. Kiehl volumizer and hair spray, Terax Styling Foam and Finishing Spray.

6. Crest White Strips

5. T3 Ionic hair dryer - A few friends recommended this and it really works.

4. Velcro rollers - I saw these used on the Desperate Housewives during a behind the scenes show. What is good for the Desperate Housewives is good for me. I use them just after my hair is blow-dryed to add some body.

3., 2., 1. Spanx, Spanx, Spanx. Enough said.

Any others???

Low Tech: The Best Solution For Dehydration

Salt Instead of computer system problems holding up my ability to post for the last few days, I can only say that it had something to do with my personal system. Even some of my friends have been sick lately, one who ended up in the hospital for dehydration. After having my own battle with dehydration, I thought I would share my own personal solution. Gatorade can be used for those who have that avaliable. But simple water in regular intervals of one hour is the best solution. And if that is hard to swallow, put some salt in the water and try drinking that mixture. The salt really makes the difference for me. I found out that being dehydrated makes it hard to blog, think or do anything related to being a mom.

Although a mom is usually the best source of medical information, I suggest talking to a real medical professional to get the full story.....

Low-Tech Fun: Lego Mosaics

Most nights I have to fight off many types of electronics in an attempt to have a quiet family dinner. I have to remind my 8 year old that there are no iPod's, computers and TV shows allowed during dinner. I can't imagine what would happen if my kids had cell phones or video games. Even I have to put my BlackBerry far away so I can't hear it vibrate with new email messages. What happened to old fashioned dinner table discussions and low-tech family games?

Tonight, my Father and Step-Mother were over for dinner when my 4 year old brought over his Lego Mosaic creation.  Lego Mosaic's have small multi-colored lego pieces that fit on small square boards. Suddenly, my husband, eight year old son and my 60-something Step-Mother were also doing their own Lego Mosaic's. They even discussed the inspiration behind their creations.
Son Here is my 8 year old son's creation. It is a city with landing pads for space ships.

Dad My husband said he was just building to keep our 8 year old son busy. But I saw the signs, he was hooked.
