Do Women In Tech Leave Careers Early?

Angie Chang, organizer of the Bay Area Girl Geek Dinners, shared this article from ABC News. The article is called "Study Examines Women In Tech Careers" says that a recent study shows that Women In Tech careers leave early. I was a Senior Manager at Deloitte, in the Computer Process Integrity divison and the reason I left early was because I was having twin boys, and with three boys I could not figure out how to manage a full time job. For me, it was the full time job I was leaving and not a career in tech. I know many moms that have their own tech consulting, part time tech careers or full time tech jobs. So the study I would like to see if equal numbers of women leave "all" full time jobs early to have kids. This brings up the whole issue of work/live balance. In the United States, the long hours of lack of good day care make it hard for all working moms.

Luckily for me, Web 2.0 is giving me my second chance for having a tech career. Hopefully, someday I will figure out how to monetize blogging. That will enable me to have a flexible career - and to stay in tech while raising my kids. Because blogging can be done at any time of the day or night, my favorite time to blog is right after the kids go to sleep....
